Kuopio renewed the english website

The city of Kuopio has renewed its English website. The new site has been released at www.kuopio.fi/english. The website has new overall look, the content has been revised and the functionality has been designed.
The web site provides information on central services of the city, categorized by topics and also by certain target groups.
The services have been categorized under the heading Services by topics. By using the links under this heading one can found information on city services, for example on day care and education, social and health services, sports and nature or culture.
On the homepage, there is also information for targeted groups: Business in Kuopio, Visiting Kuopio, Study in Kuopio and Immigrant Services. Immigrant services, for example, present information and guidance, services offered by the city and possibilities for studying the Finnish language.
At the Kuopio home page you also can find a video, where a citizen, moved from abroad to Kuopio, tells his views about the city.
The new website also provides news. The emphasis is on news and events of the city organization. Also some main news of co-operation partners of the city of Kuopio will be released. News tips can be sent to: verkkotoimitus(at)kuopio.fi.
The renewal of other language versions will be continued in 2012 by Russian language next. Other language versions will be dated later. The renewal of the website of Kuopio is related to the reorganization of the city, which started in the beginning of 2011. The city of Kuopio published its Finnish website at the end of 2010.
Kuopio.fi website has been built by using open source based Liferay portal. The collaboration partner in renewing the site is the IT services company Arcusys Oy. The visual image has been designed by FC Mainonnantekijät. The technical support partner is Istekki Oy.
