Centre of Expertise Programme

The National Centre of Expertise Programme (OSKE) consists of 21 Centres of Expertise which are significant centres in one or more branches of know-how.

Kuopio has a nationally recognised focus in the fields of Health, Environment and Well-being. Kuopio Innovation Ltd. also coordinates of the national Health and Well-being Competence Cluster.

Kuopio Innovation is a part of four competence clusters:

• Cleantech
• Food Development
• Health and Well-being (national coordination)
• HealthBIO

Kuopio Innovation promotes cooperation between enterprises and research institutes in order to create successful both national and international business activities in the region.The Centre of Expertise Programme helps growth-seeking companies to improve business activities, offers wide networks for all the regional operators and assitance for research institutes in finance mapping for R&D projects.

 Basic information about the programme:

• A scheduled programme funded by national government (programme period 2007-2013).
  
• The objective is to combine international top-level research and educational expertise with business expertise and to create more business activity and jobs.
• The financiers of the Kuopio Region Centre of Expertise are the Regional Council of Pohjois-Savo and the City of Kuopio.
