The Kuopio Science Park acts as support and background for the activity of the Centre of Expertise. It is a multi-disciplinary community conducting both basic and applied research in the fields of health, nutrition and environment.
One focus is on the development and strengthening of the food and nutrition technology expertise and its related technologies in the Kuopio Science Park with a further emphasis on the encouragement of new types of cooperation between commercial companies and research institutes. The ultimate objective is to create new business ideas and to assist existing business activity in North Savo. It also is intended to help companies in their marketing activities and to attract more R&D funding in this field to the Kuopio region.
Kuopio Innovation Ltd. belongs to the Food Development Competence Cluster together with Agropolis Oy (Jokioinen), Foodwest Ltd. (Seinäjoki), Functional Foods Forum (Turku) and Viikki Food Centre (Helsinki). More information can be obtained from the Cluster's homepage: www.fooddevelopment.fi.
