The Centre of Expertise Programme (OSKE)/ Kuopio Region Centre of Expertise

The Centre of Expertise Programme (OSKE) consists of 21 Centres of Expertise which are significant centres in one or more branches of knowhow. The Kuopio Region Centre of Expertise is the nationally recognised focus of health, environment and well-being knowhow. Its activities are coordinated by Kuopio Innovation Ltd.

There are 13 national Competence Clusters which include local Centres of Expertise operating in the same field. A cluster acts as a dedicated network in order to achieve joint objectives. The Cluster Programme specifies the joint priority strategic areas and aims and every Cluster Programme has a designated coordinator. Kuopio Innovation Ltd. is responsible for coordination of the national Health and Well-being Competence Cluster.

The Kuopio Region Centre of Expertise participates in four national Cluster Programmes:

The Kuopio Region Centre of Expertise promotes cooperation between enterprises and research institutes in order to create successful business activities in the fields of health, environment and well-being. We can assist our growth seeking customers to develop their domestic and international business. Our programme will help companies improve their competitivity and the networks can represent major opportunities for research institutes to find funding for their R&D projects.

 Basic information about the Programme:

  • A scheduled programme funded by national government (programme period 2007-2013) 
  • The objective is to combine international top-level research and educational expertise with business expertise and to create more business activity and jobs
  • The financiers of the Kuopio Region Centre of Expertise are the Regional Council of Pohjois-Savo and the City of Kuopio
